Requests

Below you'll find the current list of requested songs. Some have been there for a while, some have just moved in. They will be tabbed, when I feel like it, and in no particular order.

If you just want to say something nice about the site...:

. . . or have a question about Dylan's music you want to ask, please do so

If you have a request:

1. First check the list below. If your song is there already, you may not need to ask for it. It might not speed up the process (unless you very explicitly bribe me).

2. Then check the alphabetical list of songs again to be sure that you haven't missed it (check for alternative titles/spellings too), especially if you have looked under some of the Greatest Hits or Biograph albums--the links there may not be up to date, but the complete list should be.

3. If what you're looking for is lyrics to official Bob Dylan songs, or "which song does the line 'hum hum hum veneer hum hum' belong to?", go to the "search the lyrics" options at bobdylan.com first, or do a general search at altavista. It's amazing how much information there is out there, if you just know where to look, and how.

4. If you still haven't found what you're looking for, that is the time to request the song.

NB! This site is a private undertaking, and I make the tabs as fast as I can and want. This shouldn't keep you from requesting songs, only from expecting them to arrive immediately. They may, but they may not.

Requested songs

These are the official songs that remain to be tabbed. The list is getting shorter, but there are some gems left (33 albums finished - something left on 6 (mostly live albums; not counting Dylan and the dead, the 30th anniversary concert, GH vol 3 and Essential Bob Dylan - I suppose I should count those).

Still In Town

Written by Hank Cochran and Harlan Howard
Performed by Bob Dylan during the Basement sessions (1967)
Tabbed by Eyolf Østrem

To love you so, and still not have you
Will destroy me in time
So I'm goin' away, where nobody knows me
And get you off of my mind
I've packed my things a dozen times
But unpack is all I do
Yes I'm still in town
Still around
And still in love with you

I made it to the edge of town
And turned around
I made it to the bridge downtown
But my nerve let me down

I try to go, but how can I leave
When all roads lead to you
(Yes) I'm still in town
Still around
And still in love with you

She's About A Mover
(Doug Sahm)

She was walking down the street
Looking fine as she could be, hey, hey
She was walking down the street
She's looking fine as she could be, hey, hey
You know I love you, baby
Oh hear what is say, hey, hey

She walked right up to me
Said, "Hey, big boy, what's your name?"
She walked right up to me
Said, "Hey, big boy, what's your name?" Hey, hey
We had love and conversation
Oh yeah, what I say, hey hey

She's about a mover
She's about a mover
She's about a mover
She's about a mover
Hey, hey

She's about a mover
She's about a mover
You know I love you, baby
Oh yeah, what I say, yeah, hey

Now, she walked right up to me, talkin' about me
She said, "Hey, big boy, what's your name?"
Well, she walked right up to me
Said, "Hey, big boy, what's your name?"
We had love and conversation
Oh yeah, what I say, hey hey

She's about a mover
She's about a mover
She's about a mover
She's about a mover, hey

Wichita Blues

Robert Johnson
Recorded by Bob Dylan during the Freewheelin' sessions

Chords:

This ought to be in open G tuning. There are two problems with that: the 2nd string and the main riff.

When I landed in West Memphis
I sure did not have a dime.
When I landed in West Memphis
I sure didn't have a dime.
Operator said, "Son,
Boy, you ain't no friend of mine.''

Operator, operator
Let that poor boy ride.
Operator, operator, oh
Let that poor boy ride.
Can't you see me on your road,
Lord, I'm singing down by the side.

I'm going down to Louisianna, oh
Mamma, where that red-green river runs.
I'm going down to Louisianna
Mamma, where that red-green river runs, yes.
You can write and tell my mamma
My ramblin' days have just begun.

When I left Wichita
The weather was a-killin' me.
And when I left Wichita
The weather was a-killin' me, killin' me.
Well, my poppa said, "Son,
Watch out, you might catch that old T.B.''

When I landed in West Memphis
Lord, I never had a dime.
When I landed in West Memphis
Lord, I never had a dime.
Operator said, "Son,
Boy, you ain't no friend of mine, you ain't no friend of mine.''

Oooh!

Trouble in Mind

I got to know, Lord, when to pull back on the reins,
Death can be the result of the most underrated pain.
Satan whispers to ya, "Well, I don't want to bore ya,
But when ya get tired of that Miss So-and-so I got another woman for ya''

Trouble in mind, Lord, trouble in mind,
Lord, take away this trouble in mind.

When the deeds that you do don't add up to zero,
It's what's inside that counts, ask any war hero.
You think you can hide but you're never alone,
Ask Lot what he thought when his wife turned to stone.

Trouble in mind, Lord, trouble in mind,
Lord, take away this trouble in mind.

Here comes Satan, prince of the power of the air,
He's gonna make you a law unto yourself, build a bird's nest in your hair.
He's gonna deaden your conscience 'til you worship the work of your own hands,
You'll be serving strangers in a strange, forsaken land.

Trouble in mind, Lord, trouble in mind,
Lord, take away this trouble in mind.

Well, your true love has caught you where you don't belong,
You say, "Baby, everybody's doing it so I guess it can't be wrong.''
The truth is far from you, so you know you got to lie,
Then you're all the time defending what you can never justify.

Trouble in mind, Lord, trouble in mind,
Lord, take away this trouble in mind.

So many of my brothers, they still want to be the boss,
They can't relate to the Lord's kingdom, they can't relate to the cross.
They self-inflict punishment on their own broken lives,
Put their faith in their possessions, in their jobs or their wives.

Trouble in mind, Lord, trouble in mind,
Lord, take away this trouble in mind.

When my life is over, it'll be like a puff of smoke,
How long must I suffer, Lord, how long must I be provoked?
Satan will give you a little taste, then he'll move in with rapid speed,
Lord keep my blind side covered and see that I don't bleed.

We Just Disagree

Jim Krueger
Performed by Bob Dylan

Been away, haven't seen you in a while
How've you been, have you changed your style?
What do you think, have we grown up differently?
Don't feel the same, seems like you lost your feel for me.

So let's leave it alone
Cos we don't see eye to eye
There ain't no good guy
There ain't no bad guy
There's only you and me and we just disagree.

I'm goin back to a place that's far away
How 'bout you, have you got a place to stay
Why should I care, I'm just trying to get along
We were friends, now it's the end of our love song.

So let's leave it alone
Cos we don't see eye to eye
There ain't no good guy
There ain't no bad guy
There's only you and me and we just disagree.
